 FINAL NOTE

DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE (DD). IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY OR SELL ANYTHING, THAT IS ENTIRELY YOUR DECISION AND YOUR DECISION ALONE

ASKING INTRADAY IF “ITS TO LATE TO GET INTO ” OR “IF IS A GOOD BUY” WILL RESULT IN ENFORCEMENT ACTION. IF YOU WANT TRADING TO WORKOUT LONGTERM YOU SHOULD NEVER RELY ON SOMEONE ELSES OPINION.

  1. Do you have questions about ETFs? Portfolio construction? Long-term investing? Let’s talk. Post your questions or suggestions right here on this post.

  2. Hello, I plan to resume my (mostly) long-term ETF investment journey. I am 35, and a non-US resident.
1-I have opened an account with TD Ameritrade. Good enough to start with? And I would shut my Saxo account. Fair, cost effective decision?
2-I read about some savings on withholding tax if I invest in Ireland domiciled ETFs. Any examples of such ETFs or any links? Views on the same?
3-I plan to start with VTI, VOO, a tech ETF (like OGIG) and one thematic opportunistic one from ARK family. Sounds good?
4-Is monthly investment plan into select ETFs a good plan or would you prefer a lumpsum? Are there any tax implication for both mode that am not aware of? But anyway am looking at a long term accumulation plan.
5-I plan to do at least US$700 every month into ETFs. Is it too little? Or should I put in a lumpsum fund that I have?
6-Lastly, do Bogleheads not prefer dollar cost averaging even if markets look elevated (like it is currently?)
Please share your thoughts. Thanks always, friends.

  3. Any broker would be fine i think and the amount and the etf you choose is probably good as most will be a less risk profile than individual stocks 700/mo is still 8.5k a year [ 85k/10y with 0% gains]

    I am invested in:

Icln msos jets arkk erx xle

But there are tons within individual sectors or broad etfs that will probably play out pretty closely to eachother

  4. I am Australia based so my scenario is a bit different but monthly investment is still better than nothing..i prefer doing lump sum and save brokerage fee wherever i can, and look for opportunities to buy at lower price..plus i am mostly invested in s&p 500 and asx 200 etfs with a little in tech based etf..

    • I am in Singapore mate, and that’s where the question over Ireland domiciled etfs came from. Let’s chat up more sometime.

  5. Everything going well, keep in mind investing isn’t your life. Don’t get addicted to seeing green then on a red day be depressed. Have a long term account, I get that I don’t have as much as some of these people, but play safe, make smart trades and you’ll see your account grow.

There’s more to life than investing, enjoy it all! Don’t daytrade/swing with money you can’t afford to lose, and make sure you have A PLAN that’s my biggest tip of advice for you. Don’t try and make the next quick buck gme but instead play slow and controlled, as my boy modmark says, BOL
